2015-2016 quaternion julia sets
Computational math and art double major Christi Ho approached me one day with beautiful images on her phone of digital renderings of 3D slices of 4D quaternion Julia sets, something I had never seen before. She was inspired to try to create these forms on the pottery wheel using porcelain for her senior art show. Together, we learned about quaternion Julia sets and their patterns for an independent study. She presented a poster on her independent study at the 2016 Research and Creative Works Symposium and won the Best Poster Award out of 78 posters.
